Ibn ‘Abbaas, the Prophet Muhammad’s (may Allah raise his rank and grant him peace) companion, said the following regarding this verse: “A people who were living a life of affluence and arrogance strayed from the right path by turning away from the truth. They were living a life of hardship due to their notion that Allah (created them, but) is somehow not involved in providing them their sustenance. (This belief of self-sufficiency) stemmed from their negative opinion and denial towards Him. For if a person rejects Allah, holds false suspicions and mistrusts Him, his life becomes difficult and restricted, and that is the hardship (which Allah has referred to).” [4]

Ramadan, to many it is the thought that ISLAM prohibits certain things during the month of Ramadan and this is true to an extent but for all the believers and learners out there you are to know that Islam does not restrict you to have sexual intercourse with wife husband at night. I went to the Prophet and said: ‘Today I committed a horrendous act—I kissed while I was fasting.’ The Prophet asked: ‘What do you think of rinsing with water while fasting?’I said: ‘There is nothing wrong with that.’ The Prophet said: ‘Then what is the question about?’

However, as said earlier such actions should be avoided as one may eject or arouse further which leaves one fast broken and punishment or kufarah shall be imposed.

Translation: (Allah, on this day, do not let me abase myself by incurring Your disobedience, and do not strike me with the whip of Your punishment, keep me away from the causes of your anger by and Your Power, O the ultimate wish of those who desire.)

RAMADAN DUA – DAY 7:

Translation: (Allah, on this day, help me with its fasts and prayers, and keep me away from mistakes and sins of the day, grant me that I remember You continuously through the day, by Your assistance, O the Guide of those who stray.)

RAMADAN DUA – DAY 8:

Translation: (Allah, on this day, let me have mercy on the orphans, and feed [the hungry], and spread peace, and keep company with the noble-minded, O the shelter of the hopeful.)

RAMADAN DUA – DAY 9:

Translation: (Allah, on this, grant me a share from Your mercy which is wide, guide me towards Your shining proofs, lead me to Your all encompassing pleasure, by Your love, O the hope of the desirous.)

RAMADAN DUA – DAY 10:

Translation: (Allah, on this day, make me, among those who rely on You, from those who You consider successful, and place me among those who are near to You, by Your favor, O goal of the seekers.)

This is the night in which the destiny of this night is decided.

“I seek pardon from God and ask for penitence from Him”.  It is reported from the Prophet (PBUH) that by the time the recite will rise from his place Allah (SWT) will have forgiven him and his parents. Try to first be really repentant for serious mistakes done, sincerely ask for forgiveness either by:

(a) recalling 70 different sins OR (b) feeling remorseful for 10 sins of the 7 main organs: eyes, ears, tongue, hands, mouth, stomach + private parts OR (c) some particular sins that you may have committed repeatedly OR (d) recalling the variety of punishments of different sins and finally resolve NOT TO Repeat them in the future, then only can one realistically expect to deserve the reward the HP has promised.

“Whoever performs this act will surely be forgiven by the Almighty even before here rises from his place”.
