Adrenal GlandsAdrenal glands are situated above kidneys and are responsible for producing the hormones that are regulatory in nature. The interior portion of the adrenal gland is called adrenal medulla and it secretes adrenaline while the exterior portion of the gland is called adrenal cortex and its secretions are Cortisol or hydrocortisone androgens, estrogens and progestins.

The adrenal hormones, adrenaline and cortisol also called stress hormone help in bringing balance in case of stress. They control blood pressure, blood sugar, and fluid retention.  Continuous stress badly affects the functioning of adrenal glands by reducing its size or enlarging it and in turn affects thyroid gland’s work. People start visiting pain clinics and start taking pain medication to get rid of the stress.

Continuous stress can affect the immunity of a person; it can result in sleeping disorders, causes reduced energy levels.  The things that cause adrenal stress vary from anger to depression, from chronic pain to chronic allergies.
