Visco-elastic is a very special foam material which allows a distributed pressure on body and after the time this becomes a base of memory foam. This material put pressure on human body according to the position of each point of the body and releases the pressure when body moves from the position and material come back into its original position. This material was created by NASA’s Ames Research Center in 1970s which was funded to create a substance that could reduce the g-forces.
This material introduced 1st time by Tempur-Pedic as memory foam mattress. After the success of this mattress many companies started to manufacture this kind of mattresses some with good quality and some with poor quality. Due to manufacturing of memory foam mattresses and memory foam topers on large scale and by different many competitors, the problem increased to choose a good mattress for the customer. Now we can find many things about the memory foam mattress, some true and some false.

1- Density: density tells us that the material used in 1 square foot area. The measuring unit of density is lb. Recommended density is about 4 lb or greater for memory foam mattress and about 3lb or greater is for memory foam topper.
2- ILD Rating: ILD rating is about the hardness or softness of the material. ILD is basically the power required to compress foam. 10 ILD rating considered good with a rating of 5 lb density.
