Taraweeh To Be Offered In Congregation
Ramadan, during the era in which our Beloved Prophet (SAWS) followed the tradition of Taraweeh there were no set rules to follow for such prayers as these were not made obligations on believers. However, believers use to pray to their knowledge because of the told benefits of such acts and there were no reasons why believers would miss this golden opportunity in the special Month of Ramadan.
This was the era in which Introduction to Taraweeh relates and such understanding carried on with time forming to a point where clear directions were given and those are still being followed as the same point in time to the best of our knowledge and belief, may ALLAH (SWT) help us to follow the guided path.
This is told by several authenticated sources that in the month of Ramadan believers use to pray Taraweeh individually or in small different congregations at the time Umar Ibn Al-Hkattab (R.A.), which to Him was not acceptable and thus at the time ordered that Taraweeh should be prayed behind one Imam.
It was the time of His caliphate that an authentic narration reported by Imam Malik “Umar (R.A.) ordered Ubayy bin K’ab and Tamim Ad-Dari (R.A.) to offer them in congregation. He enjoined them to offer eight Rak’ah Tarawih and three Rak’ah witr. This practice has been going on ever since.”
May ALLAH (SWT) help us to make this Ramadan the special one as to our beliefs and will and best of our understanding to perform the most recommended and desired acts which lead to nothing else but prosperity herein and hereafter.
